No Matter how little money and how few possessions, you own,
having a dog makes you rich. -- Louis Sabin

This is Big Nicco.

His official AKC registered name is Golden Nicco of Newington. Nicco was born on October 8th, 1991. His white face shows his age in this picture. Even so, he still had a lot of puppy in him all the way up to the end.

Nicco was our protector. He kept a watch over us day and night. He let us know when someone rang the doorbell or came to the front door. He was our official house greeter.

Nicco came to us just before Christmas of 1991. We picked him out of a litter of 8 puppies from a family in Ashburn, Virginia. He was such a good puppy. It only took 3 days for him to learn the potty rules. He loved to have his ears scratched and will shook hands with you every chance he got. Nicco loved everyone. His favorite thing to do was chew on tennis balls. He loved to swim and he loved to go for rides in the car. The only thing Nicco didn't like was thunderstorms. He could tell when a storm was coming 30 minutes before it got here.

Nicco was such a good fellow at making each new addition welcome in our home. Size is definitely not a factor in the pecking order either. As big as this guy was, he was not the alpha dog in the house. He took a back seat to everyone. He just loved to be a part of the family.

Lymphoma took this beautiful boy from us in the middle of 2001. He was so brave. I was very fortunate to be with him as he quietly went to the bridge. We all think about you often, Big Guy. We love and miss you very much.
